Time For A New Chapter

We never thought we'd ever have to write this, but sadly the time has come.

Bryan has decided to part ways with FTG. He has been the voice of the band since the very start and we're sad to see him go. Last Thursday we sat down, had some good-ass food and he explained the whole situation to us. It's something that he has thought of for a very long time and we respect his decision.
Not to worry though, we're still homies and the rest of us understand his situation – We wish him all the happiness and success in the world.

Bryan will still be playing all the shows we have booked to date, including the Asking Alexandria Tour. His last show will be at Tanz Live on 24 May. More info on that show coming soon.

Don't think for one minute that this will stop us. We're on a mission and won't be slowed down by this at all.
We'll share more info on what we're doing about a new vocalist soon, so warm up those voices...

Some words from the man:

"Sometimes in life you hit a fork and you have to make some really tough decisions, sadly this is the time in my life where I have to make one and unfortunately will result in me no longer being the vocalist of FTG.

It would be way too long to fully explain to you all why it is I need to leave, but I hope you find it in yourself to respect my decision and keep supporting the rest of the guys as they continue to move forward.

This has been an incredible journey (7 years), I've got to travel all over South Africa, meet lekker people, play with awesome bands and have the most fun of my life.
But just like every journey there needs to be an end...but I want you to know that this is not the end, I'm not giving up on music, I never will, I just need a vacation from it.
Many of you wont understand my decision, but for those of you who do, salute!

I just would like to give a shout out to every person, who ever came up and spoke to me after a show, screamed in my ear, high fived me and supported our music, you made this possible.
Also just want to thank every musician I've ever shared a stage with, Rick, Ray, Chase and Vic for all the memorable experiences and putting up with me at the worst of times, my Dad - my hero, for being there at nearly every show, my girlfriend Rox and the rest of my family for all the support, and every single sponsor, organizer and fan, for contributing in someway for me to live my dream -Thank you.
You will not be forgotten
Vrede!

Touring with Poverty of Ideals

Last month we were lucky enough to get to travel around the country with some of the raddest and most talented musicians in the country. We hired a big van, slammed some gear in it and hit the road for a double album launch with Poverty of Ideals to promote 'Chapters' and 'Barriers'. First stop of the weekend was Mercury in Cape Town. OhGod - were the support act for the night, and seeing as none of us knew the band or what they sounded like we were quite intrigued. and.... Oh! God did they impress us! They are a 4 piece instrumental band from CPT that know how to write some flippin killer tunes. Check them out HERE. We got to hang with the guys for a bit after the show - stella guys! It was so good to see some old friends and even some JHB people!

Right after a 4 hour nap, we left the cape and headed straight for Port Elizabeth - 'The Windy City'. After a long ride and loads of banter we arrived at what seemed like 5 star accommodation (Thanks Sebs!). It had been a little while since we had been to PE, so to chat to friends from a couple years back was quite a nostalgic trip but well worth it. Pool City brought a laid back party and some good vibes! A resident PE trio (whose name alludes me at this time of writing) opened up the night with some straight up rock n roll riffage, leather pants, and even a Jimmy Hendrix cover. They played a solid show and got the locals vibing.

Travelling around South Africa definitely feels like a privilege in the way we get to meet people and experience different cities. Thanks to everyone that came out and supported us in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth! Here's some images from the trip:
